Animal Control

Animal Control investigates and follows up on domestic animal complaints and enforces related state and local ordinances.  Community Service Officers and Patrol Officers handle animal calls when the Animal Control Officer is off-duty.

Additional responsibilities of the Animal Control Officer include inspections of animal keeping facilities, public education, and oversight of the dog licensing program.  Animal Control is also responsible for picking up and determining the disposition of stray domestic animals found within the city.

Animal Control only becomes involved in wildlife management issues when wild animals are posing a threat to public safety or when a wild animal is sick or injured.
