Results from the latest survey of residents again demonstrate that—overwhelmingly—the people of Eagan like living here. Plaza will honor first City Administrator Tom Hedges

The City of Eagan has received a $100,000 gift from a St. Paul philanthropist and businessman to accomplish two worthy objectives.

John Nasseff was a senior executive at West Publishing when decisions were made to relocate company operations out of St. Paul to Eagan. Eagan’s City Administrator at that time, Tom Hedges, had a lot to do with fostering the relationship to make that move happen, says Nasseff.

Eagan Officers responded to a report of juveniles who had been robbed at gunpoint near Eagan High School. The incident occurred in a parking lot at Northview Park this morning at 9:35 AM. Three juvenile victims reported they were involved in an attempted drug exchange at the park, when one of the three suspects pointed a gun at them and demanded valuables. The Council on Local Results and Innovation, in concert with the Minnesota Legislature and the Office of the State Auditor has created a series of local performance indicators residents can use to monitor city performance. The Eagan City Council has embraced these indicators and adopted a resolution regarding the performance indicators to be measured and posted for the public each year.

New Tower Lights the Night

Airline passengers and evening commuters to Eagan are already noticing a striking new landmark on the horizon. Tuesday night marked the “flip the switch” date for a new and improved communications tower on the site of the former Sperry water tower in north central Eagan.

In the event of a fire emergency during the winter, firefighters need quick access to fire hydrants, and buried hydrants can cause dangerous delays.

The Minnesota State Fire Code requires a clear three-foot radius around a fire hydrant.

At the December 6 meeting, the City Council approved the next year's budget and certified the 2017 levy. Here are a few key takeaways from the budget presentation from the Finance team:

Shooting Involving Security Officer

On December 5, at 12:08 AM Eagan Police Officers responded to 985 Aldrin Drive for a security guard stating he had just shot somebody who had attempted to rob him. Officers responded and found an adult male dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
