Volunteer in Parks & Recreation

Eagan Parks & Recreation is committed to excellence in every program or activity it plans, organizes and directs. Certain programs allow the public to play a crucial role as a volunteer to make the program successful.  The following is a list of the programs that utilize volunteers.  If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Eagan Parks & Recreation at (651) 675-5500.

Community Events

Community Events

Volunteers needed to work at community special events held throughout the year. These are typically one day events held on a weekend day.

Family Ice Fishing Try-It (Jan/Feb): Assist families with ice fishing tasks such as checking out poles, baiting lines, removing fish from hooks and other fishing tasks.

Senior Volunteer Gala (April): Help serve lunch to senior citizens as our senior volunteers are honored at a special luncheon event. Held during a weekday during day hours.

Holz Farm Events (May, September, December): Volunteer at Eagan’s 1940’s era farm helping at our one and two day festivals. Need welcome greeters, concession workers, family activity helpers (rope making, butter churning, hay rides, pony rides, arts & crafts, play areas and more). Each volunteer receives a free lunch at the event. Events held include Spring Festival (May), Lone Oak Days (September) and Old Fashioned Holiday (December).

Eagan Market Fest (Wednesdays, 4 – 8 pm, June – September): Volunteer for one Wednesday evening or several. Market Fest is a large community event held 15-17 weeks each year featuring a large farmer’s market, summer concerts, free kid’s art area and theme nights with value-added activities. Assist at the kid’s art, information booth, kid’s games and other market needs.

Streets Alive (September, odd years): Volunteers needed to support Eagan’s street festival event celebrating the revitalization of the Cedar Grove District. This event spans .5 miles of shut-down road with booths and fun activities for all ages. Need assistance as event greeters at the information booth, road monitors, activity hosts running family-friendly kid’s activities and games, event set-up and clean-up.

Halloween Hodgepodge (last Sunday in October): Over 100 volunteers are needed to run children’s carnival games, arts & crafts, activity hosts, decorating for the event, and other tasks. Photo by Robert McGrath.
